Users must own a Quirky Soul NFT and a ValeNNTine NFT to get one of these new skins from the Vending Machine. One unique NNT-theme skin can be minted per Quirky Soul and ValeNNTine NFT combination. For example, if a user has three Quirky Soul NFTs and one ValeNNTine NFT, they can only mint one NNT-theme skin in the QSC game.

Source: Neo News Today

The ValeNNTine NFTs were distributed in Feb. 2022 to wallets voting for NNT as their Neo Council member. At the time, the NFTs were touted as a digital Valentine’s Day card and offered no additional utility beyond thanking NNT’s voters. In Feb. 2023, NNT airdropped 3 GAS to Neo wallets that held a ValeNNTine NFT and were voting for NNT as a council member. The airdrop served as a thank-you to voters who stuck with NNT as their choice for the Neo Council for a full calendar year. The ValeNNTine NFTs have a total supply of 320.

NNT becomes the third ecosystem entity to collaborate with QSC on a skin. The other two include COZ and Neo Candy.

Upcoming Shill Your Proposal to discuss Neo’s Dual-Token Economy academic research

https://neonewstoday.com/events/upcoming-shill-your-proposal-to-discuss-neos-dual-token-economy-academic-research/

The AxLabs team is hosting a new installment of the GrantShares Shill Your Proposal Twitter Spaces featuring Nicola Dimitri, Professor of Economics at the University of Siena in Italy. Professor Dmitri intends to discuss the second half of his research about the dual-token economy and the proposal currently onchain awaiting endorsement from a voting member. The event will begin at 4:00 p.m. (UTC) on Thursday, June 1, and will be recorded.

The Shill Your Proposal series was launched in 2022 as an open venue for users to discuss the community-funding DAO and proposals. The first six episodes took place exclusively on the Twitter platform, but the upcoming seventh episode will introduce a new live-stream format that allows the speaker to deliver a visual presentation while also speaking on a Spaces.

Professor Dmitri intends to discuss the findings from the first milestone of two of his academic publication “The Neo Two-Token Blockchain.” This milestone for the analysis of Neo’s dual-token economy was approved in Sep. 2022, with three out of five GrantShares members voting in favor. The research explored how indicators like price, trades, and circulating monetary quantities can impact Neo and potentially support policymaking.

Additionally, Professor Dmitri plans to discuss the scope of the remaining research, which will focus on the dynamics of the Neo blockchain. The proposal for milestone two specifically cites studying how NEO holdings might impact GAS holdings over time and how GAS spent on functions such as transaction fees and invoking smart contracts impacts that relationship.

To participate in the Shill Your Proposal, visit the AxLabs YouTube page and turn a notification on for the event.

Neo Soccer to shut down for indefinite amount of time, founder cites lack of time to commit to project’s success

https://neonewstoday.com/gaming/neo-soccer-to-shut-down-for-indefinite-amount-of-time-founder-cites-lack-of-time-to-commit-to-projects-success/

The Neo Soccer development team announced the sports management game will be shuttering its doors indefinitely after season six concludes. The final game of the sixth 38-day season will take place on June 10. Afterward, the platform is expected to be shut down. Odd Jørgen Røland Neo Soccer founder and maintainer said:

I have always taken great pride and joy in serving you as the creator and administrator of Neo Soccer. This game has brought us excitement, camaraderie, and a genuine love for soccer. It’s been an honor to witness and be part of that journey.

However, with a heavy heart, I must announce a significant change to the future of Neo Soccer. Due to shifting personal commitments and the necessity to focus on other projects, I have made the difficult decision to end our shared journey after the completion of this current season.

It’s hard to put into words how deeply grateful I am for your support, camaraderie, and passion for the game that’s made Neo Soccer such an exceptional community. As we approach the end of this chapter, I hope we can celebrate the incredible moments we’ve shared and look back on our journey with fondness, not sadness.

In Neo Soccer, players used bNEO to purchase or loan squad members, managers, and stadiums in order to compete against teams established by other users. Users maintained a proper balance of team finances with revenue derived from hosting home games and prize pools from seasons and cup matches.

At the time of press, Neo Soccer has made all funds deposited to the account available for withdrawal. Some players had lost bNEO playing the game, while others had made some. Neo Soccer leadership aims to ensure that all users can leave the platform with their initial deposits. There were some players that had spent more bNEO than they’d won, and the Neo Soccer team decided to reimburse them for lost funds, bringing these users back to the level of their initial deposits. Røland said, “After this repayment, I’m at a loss, but it feels like the right and fair way to do this!”

Current Neo Soccer users can finish the season, but certain in-game functionalities will be disabled to ensure a smooth wind-down. Those functionalities include selling, lending, and terminating players, coaches, and stadiums. Further, users will no longer earn bNEO for winning or hosting matches, or for placing in tournaments.

While there are no plans to relaunch the game, Røland has ambitions to continue building the soccer manager simulator at some point. He said, “Yeah, it’s not dead forever! I know what I want to fix, but I don’t have time to fix it. Maybe one day I have time, and the game is rebooted.”

https://neonewstoday.com/meme/meme2earn-surpasses-us-10000-in-reward-distributions-for-meme-of-the-day-campaign/

Meme2Earn has surpassed US $10,000 in rewards from the Meme of the Day contest, a community-oriented campaign that launched in Nov. 2022. The funds for Meme of the Day rewards are donated by project sponsors, including nDapp.org (Tuesdays), COZ (Wednesdays), and GhostMarket (Fridays).

Meme2Earn is a platform that allows users to submit meme content and receive NEP-17 TIPS tokens in return. Other users can upvote content using TIPS tokens, with 60% going to the creator, 20% burnt, and 20% sent to the Boomer Fund. The Boomer Fund is a single-sided staking feature that allows users to stake NEP-17 TIPS tokens and earn yield (in TIPS) from fees derived from the use of the Meme2Earn platform. Likewise, users can spend TIPS to downvote meme content submissions. However, the meme creator does not receive any of these tokens as rewards, as 80% are burnt, and 20% are sent to the Boomer Fund.

About Meme2Earn

The Meme of the Day contest asks users to create a new meme that follows current trends and topics, except for Thursdays and Sundays.

On Thursdays, the Meme2Earn team will burn an amount of TIPS equivalent to the amount used to upvote on the site that day. And on Sundays, the Meme2Earn team will choose one meme to post on its official Twitter account. Users must still Tweet their meme to qualify.

On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, four winners will each earn an equivalent of US $21 in TIPS tokens. Rewards are distributed every two weeks.

Neo becomes validator for KaratDAO decentralized identity and data network

https://neonewstoday.com/general/neo-becomes-validator-for-karatdao-decentralized-identity-and-data-network/

Neo is joining the KaratDAO ecosystem by becoming a data validator. KaratDAO is a decentralized identity and data network that aims to bridge Web2 and Web3 by leveraging multi-party computation and zero-knowledge proof technology.

The KaratDAO team seeks to establish a new Web3 standard called W3Auth, which emulates OAuth. OAuth is an open Web2 standard that provides seamless access to websites or applications via simple identity verification and account authentication. For example, when signing into a new web application, an individual can use their Google account to onboard quickly.

Instead of storing user information on a central server, W3Auth utilizes decentralized identity standards and smart contracts to ensure user data is owned and controlled by the user.

Source: KaratDAO

Users who choose to provide their data to the Karat Network earn rewards for participation through its verify-to-earn mechanism. The V2E mechanism aims to help communities reward their users, by using the KaratDAO dashboard to help them learn more about their users’ Web2 and Web3 identities and preferences.

To deploy this mechanism, KaratDAO will utilize a dual-NFT model, one for the Validator role and one for the Claimer role.

KaratDAO NFTs

The Validator role is designed for those seeking to onboard many users into the Karat Network. The more users that tie their Karat ID to a Validator, the larger the rewards it will receive.

The Claimer role was designed for all users and can be acquired by connecting Web2 credentials (i.e., Twitter handle, email address) to a Web3 credential (i.e., wallet address). After providing the information, the user can acquire a Claimer Pass NFT. This NFT will make the token holder eligible for $KAT token airdrops and other ecosystem benefits.

Source: KaratDAO

In the first phase of the Karat Network rollout, there will be 30 Genesis Validator NFTs (1 ETH each) and 300 Original Validator NFTs (0.2 ETH each). There is an unlimited supply of Claimer NFTs, which are provided at no cost when a user selects a Validator and provides social media information.

Neo will join the Karat ecosystem as a Space Odyssey Genesis validator. Space Odyssey is an activation campaign for the new Karat Network launch designed to onboard new users. The Genesis Validator role became operational on Wednesday, May 10. Users that register with Karat Network and select a Validator node will begin to earn rewards and become eligible for future airdrops.

Recap: More than 750 OneBand NFT rings distributed at Consensus 2023

https://neonewstoday.com/nft/recap-more-than-750-oneband-nft-rings-distributed-at-consensus-2023/

Over 750 OneBand NFT rings and LIZARD NFTs were distributed to Neo booth visitors onboarded into the ecosystem through Neo’s Consensus 2023 event activation. Consensus is among the premiere North American conferences for the blockchain industry and has been running since 2015. This year’s event took place April 26 through 28 in Austin, Texas.

The three-day event provided a forum for industry experts, investors, and developers to network, discuss industry trends, and showcase their products and services. Neo’s presence at Consensus 2023 was significant as it had one of the largest booth footprints at the event and hosted dozens of community participants from across the ecosystem.

Neo’s booth was stationed towards the middle of the conference arena, allowing for high visibility and foot traffic. It was designed with a central area for onboarding OneBand users, four columns with ecosystem projects on either side (“project pods”), and spaces for networking and discussions. The layout was designed to maximize visitor engagement and provide an immersive experience of the Neo ecosystem.

The project pods showcased a diverse range of Web3 technologies encompassing NFT, DeFi, DAO, and metaverse projects, as well as pods that highlighted the ecosystem’s cutting-edge developer tools. The pods were hosted by AxLabs, COZ, Forthewin Network, Perlin Finance, Flamingo Finance, GhostMarket, Greenfinch, and Digi.

In addition, other representatives from the Neo ecosystem had a presence at the booth, including Neo co-founder Da Hongfei, NGD Enterprise lead John deVadoss, researcher Vitor Coelho from NeoResearch, Jinghui Liao from R3E Network, and half a dozen Neo Global Development team members.

Onboarding with the OneBand Non-Fungible Item

The OneBand NFI is a physical, wearable ring cryptographically bound to an NFT. The device is powered by an NFC antenna which enables short-range wireless communication with other devices. The NFC chip contains a censored BIP32 master key which supports BIP44 derivations to private keys for most modern blockchains. It works similarly to a hardware wallet, except that the private key is known only to the device itself. The phygital item was conceptualized and manufactured by COZ, with assistance from AxLabs, who wrote the device firmware.

The OneBand activation allowed participants to have an immersive experience of the Neo ecosystem. It involved a process where booth visitors were provided an ITEM NFT asset that they would then bind to a OneBand ring in a non-custodial manner. A smart contract would randomly determine what color ring the user would get. From least to most rare, the available colors included white, black, blue, green, and red.

Alongside the ITEM NFT, users would also receive a dynamic LIZARD NFT. Once onboarded, participants could visit the eight project pods (plus NGD’s station) to scan their ring, adding up to nine new elements to the LIZARD NFT.

The onboarding process was designed to be smooth and quick, taking a little over a minute to onboard a new user.

LIZARD NFT

LIZARD NFTs were designed for the event by Giacomo Boni, a concept artist from Ubisoft. The commemorative LIZARD NFT features a Texas horned lizard, an homage to the state where Consensus 2023 was held.

Source: Neo News Today

In its basic form, the LIZARD NFT features a character in a desert-like background. As booth participants visited each project pod and scanned their ring, new elements would be added to the NFT.

Source: Neo News Today

The attributes that could be updated included types of bird, city, rubber ring, garden, spirit, glasses, horns, necklace, and shirt. Each attribute also included an element of rarity, which increases the likelihood of winning a prize in the upcoming Lizard Loot game.

Lizard Loot

Lizard Loot is an upcoming mini-game that will be accessible to all LIZARD NFT holders, where LIZARDs can be used to unlock exclusive chests and win NEP-17 tokens.

Source: COZ

Each LIZARD NFT is eligible to open up to three chests:

  • Basic Chest: Win up to 5 GAS. Any LIZARD NFT can loot a Basic Chest.
  • Superior Chest: Win up to 10 GAS. LIZARD NFTs with more than five traits can loot a Superior Chest.
  • Elite Chest: Win up to 100 GAS. LIZARD NFTs with a rare trait can loot an Elite Chest.

The more project pods a Consensus 2023 attendee visited at the Neo booth, the more traits they acquired to make them eligible for larger prizes.

The Afterparty

After the third day of the event, Neo hosted an afterparty at a nearby bar for OneBand NFI holders and other booth visitors. Nearly 100 people attended to conclude the Consensus 2023 festivities. Those who had received a OneBand ring during the conference could use it to claim a free drink at the bar by tapping their OneBand ring at an NFC reader station.

Looking forward

Another activation event featuring the OneBand technology will be announced in the near future. Further, COZ intends to release a developer kit offering templates and documentation to build upon the OneBand NFI hardware.

About Consensus and Neo Representation

Consensus is among the longest-running cryptocurrency and blockchain events, dating back to the first conference in 2015. While it took place in New York City between 2015 and 2019, the event went virtual in 2020 and 2021. In 2022, the conference moved to Austin, Texas, where it will return this year.

The upcoming Consensus 2023 will be the fourth time the Neo ecosystem takes part in this annual gathering. In 2019, Da Hongfei gave a presentation, Neo Global Development representatives discussed goals for NeoID, the Neo SPCC team demonstrated NeoFS, and both NGD and NGD Enterprise members jointly presented on Neo development.

During the 2020 event, Da gave another presentation and joined a panel discussion, while the Neo SPCC team spoke about NeoFS, and NGD Enterprise members introduced the time-travel code debugger.

In 2022, Neo hosted an interactive booth experience where visitors had the chance to learn about the Neo N3 platform and talk to community representatives. Additionally, Neo unveiled an interactive chest game that leveraged COZ’s Puppets NFTs to distribute prizes to booth visitors. Below is a video demonstrating the activation:

Neo Compounder launches to automatically compound GAS governance rewards into bNEO

https://neonewstoday.com/defi/neo-compounder-launches-to-automatically-compound-gas-governance-rewards-into-bneo/

Neo Compounder allows users to wrap NEO and bNEO into a cNEO token, which automatically uses GAS rewards to purchase more bNEO. The project team’s goal for cNEO is to compound GAS rewards into more of the underlying bNEO token over time. The auto-compounding wrapper went live on March 14.

Neo Compounder was designed and built by Lyrebird/FUSD founder William Song. He said,

NeoCompounder is designed to be able to operate in perpetuity even if the contract owner wallet is forever lost for whatever reason. Furthermore, because the contract is fully open-source, anyone can deploy a new version, withdraw their funds from the contract, and continue operations there.

NeoCompounder is intentionally designed to have a very narrow set of features that are implemented cleanly and elegantly. There are currently no plans to extend its feature set except to increase ease of use or protocol profitability.

To mint cNEO, users can visit the Neo Compounder website and deposit NEO/bNEO for an equivalent value of cNEO tokens. When exiting a cNEO position, there is a fee of 0.5% cNEO.

Source: Neo Compounder

cNEO will have an initial max supply of 1 million. This limit is in place as an effort to prevent malicious attacks on the contract code. The cap is adjustable, and will be revisited if cNEO’s supply reaches its upper limits.

The GAS compounding frequency is currently set for 48 hours, at which time GAS will be swapped for bNEO. Over time, this frequency can be tweaked to ensure that the amount of GAS swapped every epoch isn’t too large. According to the GitHub repository, “This is to ensure that it will not be profitable for an attacker to move the bNEO-GAS pool in anticipation of the compound call on the next block.”

Should the need ever arise, there is an ability for the Neo Compounder team to convert bNEO reserves into NEO and vote for specific Neo Council representatives if the cNEO supply grows large enough for this to become a viable option. The team included this function if there comes a time when it becomes more GAS-efficient to vote directly for a more competitive yield without needing to update the cNEO contract.

Neo Compounder is the result of two successful GrantShares proposals submitted by Song. The first proposal sought funds to cover smart contract and frontend development costs, which yielded a contract and an MVP web app. The second proposal sought funds to pay for the contract auditing by Red4Sec, which can be found here.

At the time of press, there is an outstanding supply of 5,276.4 cNEO, backed by 5,288.3 bNEO.

Voxiberate to conduct onchain deliberation test pilot, discussion to focus on attracting builders

https://neonewstoday.com/events/voxiberate-to-conduct-onchain-deliberation-test-pilot-discussion-to-focus-on-attracting-builders/

GrantShares recipient Voxiberate is hosting an upcoming forum, referred to as a deliberation, where users will discuss catering Neo to non-blockchain developers and then vote on potential directives derived from the conversation. The event will mark the first time the platform integrates the Neo blockchain as a part of its governance process. The deliberation will begin at 2:00 p.m. (UTC) on Wednesday, March 22.

Voxiberate’s mission is to solve the problem of participatory governance through deliberations by representative groups of people, known as citizen assemblies. In citizen assemblies, registered participants anonymously provide input on a given issue, receive input from subject matter experts, and eventually vote to determine the optimal resolution path.

The upcoming deliberation follows a successful offchain test pilot in Jan. 2023, which focused on democratizing AI systems and whether they should be freely accessible to all. The initial deliberation showcased the platform’s ability for people to vote and comment anonymously. The upcoming deliberation aims to debate the merits of catering to developers outside the blockchain industry. Votes will be recorded on the Neo N3 TestNet.

Users participating in the upcoming deliberation will receive TestNet GAS rewards after the event. To be involved, users must first register an email address and link a Neo wallet (via NeoLine) on the Voxiberate web application. Access to the deliberation will be limited to the first 30 registrants.

Interested users can register through Voxiberate link below:
